Sales conference 2008 - 10 companies 1 message
24th - 25th nov 2008
24th – 25th November 2008, all ten companies in the secure options group attended the sales conference.
The aim of the event was to draw all the sales team together and deliver one message. This event was held in the beautiful Shrigley Hall based south of Greater Manchester.
Day one commenced with the directors of the group highlighting the importance of the sales team and what was required from them to help drive the group forward throughout the current sensitive economy. What stood out during the day was one of the core values of the group; that all companies have been highly innovative over the years and it has been vital to the group’s success. Later in the day there were some great networking events and games, including building structures out of marshmallows and straws!
Day two commenced with some excellent presentations from the event sponsors – MAXXESS and NETWORK VIDEO CENTRE, we would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors for not only supporting the event but also attending and informing the group of excellent products and services they can offer.
Day two was also an opportunity for all companies to present, this greatly strengthen cross-selling ability of the sales team across all ten companies.
We feel the event has both strengthened our cross-selling ability and also united the sales teams in a friendly but professional environment.
We would like to thank all those who attended and look forward to seeing you all again at the Christmas party.

British Retail Consortium
oct 2008
Secure options group took part in the 2008 BRC – British retail consortium to promote the new Cash Dock system. This 'docking station' (painted in Sainsbury's orange), is an archway so that CIT vans can park at the side of the building; shutters come out; and the CIT staff can pass money into the store.
Next year, Sainsbury's plans to roll out 'glue boxes'. According to Robin Tinto 'red ink boxes have had their day' - that is, cash boxes that if stolen will spray ink over the banknotes. Instead, a glue box - G4S are working on something similar, as featured in the November issue of Professional Security - if tampered with will glue the contents together, and add a tracing agent. The solvent will only damage the notes, not the silver lines and other features that mean the notes remain recognisably Bank of England legal tender.
Phil Hagon, head of corporate security at Sainsbury's, is chairing the BRC's CIT working group.
Robin Tinto ended by stressing the personal: "The most powerful results come from inspired people, not inspired technology." Put another way, the retailer could, did, come up with 'great processes', but it took discipline to keep explaining why processes are important.
